Difference between a switch and a hub is?

PC sends a packet to a hub, it doesn't know what to do with it, so it broadcasts that packet out across every port.

A switch takes the packet, figures out which port it needs to go down and sends it to the right place.

Hubs = dumb. Switches = not so dumb. Some switches (think enterprise level) are really really clever :)

Oh and seriously, about 5 billion hits on google - http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=e...ch and a hub&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&num=100

Well a switch is something you flick to turn something on/off, like a light, wall socket etc... and a hub is like the main part of something, or if its like a USB hub, then its a box with so many extra USB ports on it that connects to your PC to give you extra USB ports. :p
