Just been wondering what the difference between a Public House and a Freehouse is? Was able to find this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pub) on Wikipedia but didn't really help.

A free house is a type of pub that is not owned by a brewery, and thus can freely serve what beers they like.
Rotty said:A Public house is just a name for any pub
A freehouse is independent of any brewery
a tennanted house , the landlord owns the business but the brewery the premises ad the landlord is generally tied to sellimg what they tell him to
a managed house is entirely owned by the brewery and the landlord is just an employee

To me, that's exactly what he said-westy- said:Bang on. I'll just add that with a tennanted house, the tennant doesn't actually own the pub, just rents it off the brewery, and is tied to their products. Unless thats what you meant?![]()
