I'm getting together a shopping list for my new build. But because of my location, I'm finding it very hard to source certain parts. So far I have the following on my list :
Motherboard : Asus P8Z68-V
CPU : Intel I5-2500K £160
RAM : Kingston Hyper-X 8GB 1600MHZ
CPU Cooler : most likely Thermalright Silver Arrow (£55)
or perhaps Noctua NH-D14 (£60)
Thermal paste - whatever comes with these coolers - can't find Arctic Silver out here.
SSD : Crucial M4 128GB £150
Thing is I'm struggling to find the right RAM. I can get the following : Kingston KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX £33
Whereas I have heard for my setup the following is better for Sandybridge : Kingston KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX (I believe this is something to do with XMP). But I can't find it out here. So my question really is, will the KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX be ok? Or should I wait until the KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX becomes available out here (or buy some other RAM)?
Other RAM available :
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL) £33
Apacer DDR3 1600 8G(2*4G) 8GB UNB PC3-12800 CL9 £44
AVEXIR Blitz DDR3-1600 8GB (4GBX2) AVD3U16000904G-2GW £38
Corsair Vengeance Blue DDR3 1600MHz 8G(2*4GB) CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B £40
Corsair Vengeance Red DDR3 1600MHz 8GB(2*4GB) CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R £40
Corsair Vengeance 8G DDR3 1600MHz CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 £39
Corsair XMS3 8G DDR3 1600MHz CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 £36
The only constraint is that it needs to be quite low profile to fit under my chosen CPU cooler (which is why I originally chose the Kingston RAM as it has no heat spreaders).
