whats the difference between

Asus A8N-SLI and the A8N-E

I will never get SLI, so whats the differnece

well for one thing one is SLI and the other is not :p :D , on a more serious note the AN8 SLI will just have more update features included on/with the board, the question is do you require any of these extra features and will you make full use of them all.

well SLi stands for Scan Line Interleave which basicly means you can connect two graphics cards to increase performance so each card will render every other Line which will almost make it double the fill rate

I think the A8N-SLI is the better overclocker but I'm not 100% but other than that there's probably not a great lot of difference.

how is the sli a better overclocker? as i will be getting an overclocking motherboard without sli. As the motherboards bios is the same and its practically the same motherboard without some extra features and a heatpipe

Well I know the A8N-SLI can got to 270-280, more if you're lucky. But I'm fairly sure I saw an article saying that the A8N-E was only good for 250 but I can't be 100%.

Erm no, this was 3dfx's SLi like years ago. Sli was renamed in 2004 by Nvidia to Scalable Link Interface.

If you are not going to be using SLi then you may as well get the A8N-E, as the Nforce 4 SLi and the Nforce 4 ultra are very similar.

im shure any nf4 board will do 300+ with dfis topping the bill at 400+

the a8n will easily do 300

Not many boards will hit 300MHz+, most DFIs do it, the new Asus Crossfire board supposedly can do it, but looking at the thread here not many people in reality can manage it. The A8N, unless you're lucky won't likely do it.

Would also like to know this as i need a good clocking board for around £70. The choice would have been easier but OcUK no longer stock the Epox boards.
