Difference between Monitor Audio and B&W

I have yet to hear some B&Ws that make me want to sit down and listen to a load of music. This is after falling in love with the look of the original 601s and after having installed B&W right up to the £18K Nautilus Diamond 800s with ARCAM, Naim and Classe electronics.

I agree with you and 9designs2, I just cant get on with B&W. The only B&W equipment I even entertained having is in my Jaguar XF as its a factory fit item. I just dont understand why people rave on about them so much but as you say, speakers and hifi in a wider sense is very much a personal thing.

Replied to you Lowe... More I listen to them the more impressed I am. I thought they'd have been run in by now considering the store had had them for a while, but they are certainly improving noticeably the more I use them, possibly just one of those speakers that takes a little time to really warm up.

The B&W Nautilus (the cochlea shaped design) speakers are one of the best sounding speakers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. At the time I didn't really have a great interest in speakers but they sent me on a crusade to upgrade my audio setup.

Not really had a whole lot of experience of other speakers in the B&W range bar the 683 and 684, both nice enough but nowhere near the same as the Nautilus, not exactly a fair comparison though.

In a nutshell I found that B&W speakers within my price range were nice but lacked certain qualities that I was able to gain from elsewhere. However their high end gear for me is almost without parallel and opened my eyes (ears?) to the audio world if you like.
