Hi guys,

I understand that the OEM version is just the barebone CPU, but is it true that they are earlier versions? as in the versions first released for testing etc? I'm looking to get an I53570K but i'll be buying a separate cooler also, so won't require the stock one that comes with the retail version... am i therefore better to save £10 a go for an OEM version?

cheers!

With retail you get 3 year warranty, instead of 1 year on the oem CPU, plus with retail you get a nice fancy box.

For the extra £10 I would go retail, far as I am aware both should be the same.

And you also get a cooler, which is only suitable for stock speeds, but it's always a good thing to have spares.

LOL. Stock cooler is about as much use as a paperweight as FallshirmjAEger stated :L it's quite noisy and doesn't work well.. but is an alright backup incase something goes wrong.

its worth paying the little extra, just for the longer warranty

And peace of mind that's it's not a returned OEM that someone's tried out, found it doesnt clock as high as they liked and they've just tested, cleaned and bunged back in the little box.

Im sure this doesn't happen at reputable shops like OCUK
