Difference between Seagate 7200.9 and 7200.10 500Gb drive?

The 7200.9s are the previous generation of desktop disk from Seagate. They don't have the perpendicular recording technology used in the 7200.10s so the data density and hence speed are not as high as the newer models.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the .9s, Seagate make good disks so I wouldn't be worried about reliability. Given the price they're a great deal for a storage drive although OCUK have the .10 500Gb part on special this week for only a fiver more than the .9 (granted not much use to you).
