I know this may sound like a daft question as the answer is probably in the title but I am not sure what the differences are between the two.

Does the cheaper one have wi-fi plus 3G as I cant find 3G anywhere in the tech specs for the cheaper ipad.

I see that the more expensive one has Wi -fi plus Cellular (with 4G).

The only reason I ask is that I want an ipad that i can connect to the internet when I am not near a Wi-Fi.

Cheers :)

There are two versions, one with WI-FI and celluar and one with WI-FI only.

Looks like you wil need to look at the first option.

Cheers for the info.

The ipad is going to be for the wife, I have never used one so am not sure of all the tech.

Am I right in thinking though, you can connect it when out and about the following way.

I have a blackberry that has wireless hotspot on it, so could you be out of the house and the ipads wifi would pick up the blackberry wife hotspot and you could connect to that, giving you mobile internet instead of having to purchase the cellular ipad version?

I am sure other mobile phones do this facility as well?

Sorry to OP for kind of hi-jacking the thread.

Yes works a charm like this too.

Yes Magic that would work. Even iPhones do it, it depends if your mobile network lets you do it though.

Well I am on Orange. Contract. with my Blackberry and just noticed it under setting on my BB, so was curious if i do buy a Ipad that I would be able to do that.

Sorry to OP again for slightly derailing the thread.

Magic dont worry about it mate. If anything its helped the thread and made me think that the ipad could connet through the wifes iphone.

Is this called internet tethering?

Edit:
Just looked at the iPhone and its also called Personal Hotspot, that could save us a few bob.
