Difference between ???

My friend would wish to know what is the difference between the 4850 512mb one from XFX and the 1024mb one from HIS, is there a noticable difference to justify the price as my friend is on a tight budget i would like to know ??

from my experience there is only a difference if you crossfire 4850's, in which the 1024MB pulls ahead

more memory always helps so go for the larger memory card

More memory usually only helps at higher resolutions (e.g. 1920x1200 or above) and the GPU might not be powerful enough to use the extra memory anyway.

A lot of cards with extra memory use slower memory to save money, so often you're better off going for the card with lesser memory.

He plays at 1920x1080.. so isit wise just to buy the cheaper one as the 1gb wont make a difference ?

I'm sure he would be happy with either one but personally I would go with the 1Gb card, 1gb is the norm these days and when you start applying AA, detailed textures etc, etc it just pays to have more memory. Games like GTA IV, Metro 2033, BF Bad Company 2, Supereme Commander all like a nice chuck of video memory to work with.
