Different Network when Ethernet Connected?

Turn Windows Firewall of on both and join them both to the same homegroup (it will require the same password to be used on both in order to join)

On the PC it will not let me join a Homegroup. It will only let me create one.

On the laptop, it won't let me leave the Homegroup it's already on.

When I get to Step 5 and click on 'Leave the homegroup', a message appears saying 'Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup'

Grr, I did them instructions perfectly but it still doesn't let me leave.

*bump* Why does the PC that's connected to the router via ethernet cable just say that it is connected to 'Network', whereas the laptop (wirelessly connected) says it is connected to 'BTHomeHub'?

Could this be why they do not recognise each other?
