Just wondering what would happen if I plugged in 2 sticks of PC2-6400 or faster in my motherboard which already has 2 sticks of PC2-5300 plugged in? I've never heard of anyone using RAM of varying speeds, so is there any particular reason for this?

most likely, the 6400 ram will just run at 5300 speeds. There is a small chance the motherboard wouldn't like it, but it should work. Probably not many people use mixed speed just because ram is pretty cheap now.
