Different XMS3 Versions

I've had one Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit for about a year and a half now and I ordered another pair as I found 4GB was not enough for me. I received the new pair today to find that they are versions 2.12 opposed to the ones I already had which are version 2.3.
Will this have any affect and is 2.12 and earlier version of 2.3?

Sometimes different versions don't play nicely together, you'll just have to try them and find out.

I don't know how Corsair version numbering works.

Maybe it a case of 12 is more recent than 3 or .3 is more recent than .12.

But you wouldn't have thought that a set bought new 18 months later would be older.

That's what I thought but obviously .12 is lower then .3 so :confused:

I guess I'll cross my fingers and test them when I get my motherboard back from RMA then! Unless somebody knows...

It's a bit inconvenient seeing as I only brought the same model from the same retailer for the convenience
