Differing outputs on xbox306s?

I've been nosing at a few other threads as we're going to pick up a 360 towards xmas (it's for the kids honest, they'll love Portal ;))

I'd always though that it was the same basic box (the core) with different bits added on, the harddrive, the wireles controller, memory card, etc) but i'm getting the impression that some of them don't have a hd output?

I was intending on just plugging it into my hdmi splitter and running from there, but which one do i need to get a hdmi output?

All of them can do HD via vga or component. The original xbox core and premium didn't have HDMI output, but the new Arcade and Elite do as standard. The replacement for the Premium, The Pro, generally comes with HDMI now, but I'm not certain that it is all of them, so you may need to check.
 
Yeah, HDMI output has been 'phased' in over the last few months.. any new 360 'should' have HDMI, but there may be old stock floating around..

I believe if you look at the box it does say HDMI on it somewhere..
