Who reads digg?

I think its a great site.A nice way to keep up with new stories. However, I have one major gripe with it - and this is especially true in the Apple section of the site.

When Apple launch new products - you can pretty much gaurentee 300duplicate stories! Its highly irritating. When the 'iPhone' was launched - there was around 500 upcoming stories in the Apple section - all relating to the same thing. ANNOYING.

Thankyou for reading your daily 'What Upsets Stuppy' bulletin. Please digg this story to death and dupe it 300 times.

Stuppy xx xxx x xx x

I noticed similar - 8 of the top 10 most dugg stories were about either the iPhone or Apple the other day too.

Does seem to have a lot of Apple fanboys on there (and a lot of Sony haters!)

It's an interesting site with some good articles. There's some quite insightful comments on there, but also a lot of petty squabbling.

Lol.. sounds likst 95% of the internets forums (including this one).

digg keeps me in work.. my job is very boring most of the time.. if i didn't have forums and digg to keep me occupied i would have gone insane ages ago...

Dont really care for apple (definitely hate sony) so dont really read any of the stories about them

I lovve digg. But I havn't registered. There's so much information and if you click on videos....it brings the best of of youtube and other video links across the 'interweb'

Still a great site to kill time. And all thanks to my brother who found it out. Now i'm copying him.

Digg is great, but most of the front page stories are submitted by the same group of people.
There was an article a while ago, each of the top submitters all digg eachothers submissions. The way the digg algorithm work(ed) was to give people with a high percentage of front page stories priority when reaching the front page.
So it's kinda like a circle, they all digg eachothers stuff, which makes it easier for them to hit the front page/automatic diggs.

It's still good though :D

Yes, digg is full of apple fanboys/haters. And wii fanboys.

I don't know if you guys have seen this but i found it interesting http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Analyzing_Digger_Statistics
89% of people were from USA!
UK users fall under the 1% 'others'

It's a good way to keep up on tech news, but it is very American, and some (most) of the comments can be completely ignorant.

It's nicely presented.

But unless you're a fan of technology and the odd funny youtube video it's not got that much to offer.

It's certainly not going to replace any major news site any time soon.
