Anyone got a digital shower ? (that's new in my vocabulary)

Older parents thinking of getting one (mira platinum), with the attraction that the remote 'widget' allows you to turn it on/off remotely.
- Is the remote reliable and to too delicate/finickety to use
- parents don't have a pressurised hot water tank, and existing shower maybe delivers max 10L/min, but they are being sold a pumped version of the shower.
I'm not convinced that is useful, shower head is maybe a metre higher than tank (bungalow) and apparently pump will be in the celing/loft, so, not at same height as tank.
- I don't know if the remote controlled valves and control system are a maintenance nightmare (scale, calcium carbonate, say)

We've got one, it's the Aqualisa model and works very well and it's nice and convenient having the remote secondary switch outside of the shower area. Ours is also a dual control shower and bath filler, so no bath taps.
Older people like the idea of not having to reach over to turn the shower on/off etc. And if the water supply is low pressure then they do pumped versions for better shower performance.

I've got the Mira Platinum best shower I've ever had.

I agree and have also recommended it to others who agree too (dual version). So much so, we all joke that we miss our shower when staying away. It's great going into the shower knowing it will be at the correct pressure and temperature without having to check or stand there in the cold tweaking it.

The unit in the loft has failed once before in warranty. I wouldn't hesitate getting it again if it failed a second time.

We've got an Aqualisa something or other, I can't remember the model. It's great. The nice thing about being able the turn on the shower before stepping into the cubicle is that the water is already hot when I step in. Early in the morning I'm not a fan of the initial output of cold water from the shower head.

I'll get another one we get the other bathroom tarted up.

Another happy owner of an Aqualisa digital shower here. Press a button, wait for it to stop flashing and step in (it flashes until it reaches the set temperature). We have a pressurised system though, so no idea how well they'd work with the OPs setup.

OK - thanks so digitals's not a bad thing

I think they have below non-pressurised plumbing configuration,
but I don't get putting the pump in the ceiling abover shower head, wouldn't it have to be as low as possible to increase the effective head height.

I think if I were to suggest a 'smart shower' to my other half I'd get laughed right out the front door into the street. That said, I am taking notes for when we get our bathroom done :p

Smart and digital are two different things.
Digital is brilliant, smart less so.

Had a digital bath filler with shower divert and kept accidentally resetting it so that it ran for ten seconds then stopped.

Goodish apart from that. Though you could argue that's our fault!

Temperature sometimes goes very hot then very cold, which doesn't happen in the other bathroom with normal mixer.

Would probably just go for a manual thermostatic mixer next time though.

I think hot water pipework is already running at ceiling level, so i it may not be possible to put pump low down, unless it is located (remotely) at the tank itself,
but I'm not sure a pump up high will really help much, where the head&flow-rate is already reduced
