Has anyone any layman info on exactly what will be happening in NI between oct 10th and Oct 24th for our two part switchover?

From what I can tell the current digital channels will all be moved around on their channel frequencies in two separate batches, with analogue bbc2 going down initially, followed by everything else on the second date? At my parenst house the digital itv signal is apauling currently, the channel at a completely different atrength to that of the bbc frequency channel, these will be swapping around, but will they also be increasing the channel strengths, or is now a food indicator of what will eventually be available?

With reference to RTE it would appear the new transmitter is already broadcasting, but I seem to only get sound on those channels currently, with picture not yet being broadcast. I had heard that rte1 2 and tg4 will be available free to air in NI.

Anyone know exactly what we will end up with after the event?
 
I have no idea about free sat but where about in NI are you??

I was over a couple of weeks ago in Tyrone and RTE 1,2,3 and tg4 are now on free view (not sure where about on it though) as they had purchased a new tv that could find it (so maybe an update is out for your tv, or just a massive rescan of just digital channels). I'm not sure which transmitter they are near but I think there are 3 to cover NI and it'll take a little while to get it finished.

Anyway on the 10th they will turn off some analogue stuff, with a retune to move bbc1/2 on digital, then on the 24th its silent on the analogue with a bit of a rejig to all free views channel spots (makes them logical in order again I think).

Either way (by something that equates to law) you will have to be able to get all the irish channels (though not 5 yet I don't think) which will be pretty decent on free view as when I lived in Belfast rte was never watchable over analogue, so we just put up with south park in irish on tg4...
 
I did a rescan, and it finds the southern channels, but in audio only, the picture is black, but the signal strength is strong.
Do I need to do anything to actually get visual, or wait until the official launch?
