Hi all, I'm just curious if anyone has bought anything from them before? I'm after a 7D at some point soon, and they're £140 cheaper than any UK supplier. I know they come from Hong Kong, so the Canon warranty wouldn't cover it, but their website states they offer their own 1 year coverage, whereby you take it to an authorised repair centre, and they pick up the bill.

The price is what's appealing though. Cheapest UK price is £1075, digitalrev sell it for £939.

So, yeah...opinions/experiences anyone?

should do a search, we talk about this once a month it seems.

DRev are fine. as they state its one year , their cheaper etc etc.

We all live on the same planet, its not as if the item is coming from mars. - its the modern age baby!!!!

I've bought 3 items from them with no issues except that one of the lenses got stopped by customs and I got leathered for import duty

Its the gamble you take with importing but in terms of a company they are as good as anyone in the UK really.

Don't DigitalRev offer some kind of reimbursement for import taxes? I thought I remember reading that before?

I've not bought anything from them before, but given how much they do to attract a Western audience and their cracking YouTube Channel, I'm certainly considering it for future big purchases.

I have bought a 7D and a few days ago I had a 10-22mm arrive from them. I cannot fault them at all although I have never had the trouble of something arriving faulty or developing a fault so cannot comment on their warranty.

They will handle all import taxes and it will be delivered to you within 4 days. Both of mine arrived in 3!

In that case, excellent!

I was debating ordering the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 from them too, but I hear that they sometimes have focusing issues...figure it makes more sense to buy from a UK seller in case a replacement is needed.

Be aware that the camera is a Chinese model and although the camera itself is in English the manual will be Chinese and there will be a chinese charger with a UK plug adapter. They do supply a URL to the English manual though.

Didn't know that, but for the sake of nearly £150, I can live with it!

But they don't honour the warranty here do they?

I really want a 550D/600D but as they advertise, and I assume, ship the HK models over the world, I've heard that canon will not honour the warranties with regards to DRTV cameras.

Anybody able to comment on warranty from buying on the other side of the world?

The guys from Digitalrev are active on the Talkphotography forums and even have their own section were you can ask them questions etc. May be worth checking there if you have any concerns.

DR will give you their warranty, and they have UK agents to deal with.

I've spent several thousand with them in the past, no problems at all.

Interesting. So if I bought their equivalent of the 550D or 600D and it broke it would be fixed at a properly qualified repairer at no expense to me?

You can get a 7D body for £899.99 if you shop around. Example :- 3 year warranty, 1st year with canon and 2 and 3rd with them.

Cheers for that, I actually ended up buying from here in the end.

There seems to a few mediocre reviews of them from a couple of years back, but recent ones seem much more positive. Plus, I've paid using a credit card anyway, if only for the extra protection it offers!

Plus I've just ordered a Sigma 30mm 1.4 from Amazon...very happy day! :p

haha, I sent this thread to a mate of mine who was asking about digirev. He had a read through followed the link to hdewcameras above, ended up spending £1400+(7D+15-85mm). Reading these forums can be expensive !

I just got my 7D from them and got it fine, but I had to pay £15 to DHL :( but other then that I've had no problems but same as some other people I have not sent anything back.

That's my only concern with Hdew, no one yet even on TP has tried to return for repair any thing outside of the original 1 year warranty.

Plus it goes to their designated repair site and I'd rather use fixation.
