Just read an article on t'internets about the eyes during social interaction. It says your pupils have a tendency to dilate when your attracted to someone?

Is this true? What causes the pupils to dilate exactly, is it something to do with the eyes wanting to receive more information at close distance? Does this also mean that if you don't like someone, your pupils will constrict?

:)

* contract dear boy. Not constrict.

And this is probably pap to use someone else's term. Link your article source and OcUK shall decide.

Has to do with various neurotransmitters being released.

If you don't like someone they won't contract though....off the top of my head the only things I can think of that make your pupils contract are lights (duh), and opiates.

maby fighter instinct? You like someone, who you would like to 'mate' with, so you perk up to fight off other alphas.

I think it's more due to pleasure/reward and lovey dovey feelings...associated with the release of dopamine and serotonin. This is the same reason peoples' eyes dilate when on methamphetamines or mdma

No, 'constrict' is correct.

Pretty simple really, Energize is correct. You get excited when you're atrracted to someone- with excitement comes adrenaline release and sympathetic stimulation, leading to pupil dilation.

^Yeah and what is damned annoying is that I've been refused entry into clubs in the past due to dilated pupils. No doubt the doormen thought I was on something.

The reason being is that due to a medical condition (cataracts), I use eye drops to dilate my pupils which drastically improves my vision. So I suppose I was on something, just nothing dodgy :)

My ex has one pupil permanently dilated due to a chemical imbalance. Not drug related I can assure you. I believe Bowie has the same thing.

I had one dilated pupil after an eye injury a few years back, they put some anaesthetic drops in to dilate it and some dye while checking for glass splinters and it didn't go back to normal for a few months, was only supposed to last a few hours. :/
