HI,

Ive got a EVGA 1080sc with a ek block on order with oc and I'm at two minds as to whether I should hold out for this or await the 1080ti(if one does indeed exist), my main worry is if i get it with a water block on will i be able to use the step up programme, or would I have invalidate my warranty?

For info I have a custom loop pc currently running a gtx 780ti(air cooled) and a 6700k on water.

Thanks in advance,

rob

I believe your fine with EVGA just put the old cooler back on when the time comes. Their warranty covers water blocks

the 1080 doesn't seem to gain much from being on a nice custom loop, nothing like previous gens gains :( so you could go for cancelling the block and sticking with air cooled till the 1080Ti shows up, use the step up program to get it, then see if it reviews as gaining from good WC and if so order a block then?

I thought the step up program was limited to 90 days. I'd be surprised to see a ti version before March 2017 (if at all).

ah sorry quite possibly true, I'd heard of the step-up program and assumed from the question about the water block impacting it that he'd be eligible, didn't check for other constraints :( my mistake.

Then you'll get the 1080Ti and be worried about the next big thing. Rinse and repeat.

Enjoy what you've ordered and upgrade when you need to.

No point in going water on a single 1080, unless you just really enjoy water and have the crap reference cooler.

All 1080's seem to cap out at 2060-2114 MHz no matter what you do to them.
