Dino Dini's Kick Off & Sociable Soccer

I loved Kick Off 2 on Amiga. Still play it now and again when i dust the old Amiga off.

My favourite football game so hope the ball control is like the old one.

Ah the old chip and long chip goals....my brother and I must have scored hundreds of those against each other.

Oh yep.

I could also reliably score from every kick off against a mate by chipping, running straight towards the goal and using a banana-shot. Used to make him rage. He even started restting the Amiga every time I did it, which meant we almost never actually finished a game. Good times! :)

Is it evil that I am looking forward greatly to getting this game and trolling my kids with the same antics...

Surely the analog plays better than the D-pad? Better directional and speed control? This with KOR or SS? I really do fancy KOR but the initial thoughts on the web aren't very positive.

I loved SWOS years ago, spent ages playing it with my mates. I fancy the look of that Sociable one and was showing it to the wee fella there and he likes the look of it too. Would love to have a couple of joysticks though as played years ago using the Atari 2600 stick and it was great for it.

Got the joypad working, had to check xbox configuration support, & generic gamepad configuration support, in steam controller settings, just in case anyone else gets same issue.

Like it so far, obviously still needs a fair bit of work with it being early access, but promising.

I have always hated football yet SWOS managed to pull me in and was quickly one of my favourite games ever so this is great news to hear.

Added it to the wishlist but will wait a while for it to be polished before taking the plunge.

Kick-off one of the best games ever for the Amiga, the game used to crash if you kicked the ball out at the wrong height and speed. lol

Its a an age old argument but I found Sensible Soccer the more satisfying experience and Kick-off the laugh-out-loud funnier to play because some of the fouling and red-cards were ridiculous.

Kick off was crap on the amiga compared to kick off 2. Kick off suffered from slowdown and the goalies were so easy to score against. Kickoff 2 fixed these issues along with other things. Sensi was a much easier game to score goals than kick off 2. I did prefer kick off 2 tbh. Played it to death on the ST before I got the AMIGA.

Although Sensi was my favourite and most played in the end, before it was released Kick Off 2 + Final Whistle was also excellent. Dino Dini's Player Manager was also superb; for those who haven't heard of it this was essentially a heavily modified Kick Off 1 with an extensive management campaign mode. You could also chose to control only your own player, or all players as normal.

Sociable Soccer has promise and a few massive bugs at present, although I am sure these will be ironed out. KOR is more complete from the gameplay standpoint but is rock hard after years of modern footie games and also a little limited in gameplay modes.

we used to have huge long SWOS sessions and kick off was played for laughs mainly to see how many players we could get sent off

But SWOS was a joystick destroyer of a game when people went mad during games

Kick Off 2 on the Amiga.

World Cup, I played in goal through the full competition.

Saved a penalty in the final, won the cup.

My greatest gaming moment.

Look like I'd be bored of them after about 5 minutes, much like when I played Sensible Soccer a few years back on an emulator. Great at the time, but garbage by today's standards.
