Direct X 11

guys,

Just upgraded my card , been along long time since i upgraded , I know i have to remove all traces of the old drivers , but what about DX11 , i currantly have DX9. do i have to download DX11 and install after the card has been fitted?? Sorry if this sounds a newbie question

Nope you shouldnt have to do that try running the heaven benchmark with the dx 11 setting and you will see what its like. The card will auto set its self in games if they are dx 11 then thats obviously what it will choice.

Just to clear things up for Directx 11 you need:

1, Radeon 5xxx video card
2, Windows 7 (32 or 64bit)

I have , a radeon x1950 pro 512 on DX9 running windows 7 ultimate , and my new 5850 should be here today if it can get through the snow , all i need to know is wether dx11 gets installed when updating the driver to the 5 series , or if i manually have to download dx11 and install??

windows 7 has dx11 by default.
you can check this by running dxdiag

Dear god thats an absolute mammoth upgrade that

If your going from another ATi card (which you are), then all you need to do is remove the gfx drivers you have on, switch off, swap cards, switch on and install the latest (which are the 9.12's), which you can get from here :-

Enjoy mate, I would recommend using the in-built ati uninstaller first, the installing the new 9.12 drivers fresh, but it's not 100% necessary, you will probably be fine just installing the 9.12's straight off.

OMFG!! this card ROCKS!! well chuffed with my purchase just broke it in hours stint on crysis , hour on MW2 hour on GTAIV !! might aswell throw my 1950 away!!! was gonna try and flog it on e-bay!! well chuffed right now
