Hi

Im going through that 'reinstall all my games after re-format' stage, as Im sure most of you are familiar with. Just something ive noticed, every single game I install asks me if I want to install Direct X (9.0, 9.0c, etc, depending on games). DX9c was installed with the first game I installed, yet every other game I install srill asks me to install it, then warns me the game wont work when I click no! Surely they could code in for DX installs to cheack whats already there!

Sorry, rant over

Hah the thread title had me really tickled for some reason, quality. I agree, it seems stupid that the installer can't do a basic test to see what's installed, that's always annoyed me too. :)

As far as I can tell, if its already installed, the DX installer in games just goes through and checks all the files are there and correct. If any are missing, it replaces them..

Better for it to do this each install and take up about 10secs of of your time than not do it and the game crash repeatedly on you because a file is missing.. :)

It's not the DX Installer that questions itself, it's the game installer that questions DX so you're blaming the wrong guy. It is a nuisance but if DX is upto date, just say no subsequently and ignore the messages saying the game won't run.

So he has a forum name that is a common name in spanish speaking countries....

Like going into a Japanese forum and going 'OMG! Your name is Dave!'

sorry, i digress
