Direct2drive - What's it like?

Just about to purchase a game here but i have a few questions.

What is the DL speed like? Has it got good customer service?

It's a bit like Steam only without the client interface, it's all done through your web browser. With regards to download speed it's able to max out my 3Mb connection but don't know how capable it is of maxing higher speed connections.

My experience with it has been good and I've got some good deals off them.

I bought WAR off it on preorder and everything was awsome.

Seems weird not having a box with a DVD in though

Heh, it says you have to go through a verification process if you buy an MMO via a free e-mail address e.g. a hotmail account. Does this take long?

With D2D what happens with the serial numbers / if you have to reformat? Is there any issues with how many reinstalls you can have ?

Nope you can install as many times as you want. They have some program that lets you and its free with a game purchase.

Yeah, I got one of the £5 games off it the other day, no problems whatsoever and a pretty decent download speed too.

Is there still an issue with D2D games needing their own version of patches though? I know they used to, but not sure if this is still the case.
