DirectStorage - does it matter which drive you use?

Although there are not many games yet taking advantage of DirectStorage, I have a question about setting it up.

I currently have Windows running off a SATA drive connected to my first PCIe drive slot, and a secondary PCI4 NVMe drive connected to the second slot, which holds all of my games.

To get advantage of DirectStorage, does your Windows installation have to be on a compatible drive, or is it enough to have your games on a compatible drive in a compatible slot?

Never heard that you need windows and your games on the same drive for direct storage to work.

That would rule out a lot of gamers.

I've also not heard that your Windows drive needs to be on the same drive. Would be a real pain if it does.
