DirectX 11

I got a 5850 back in January because everybody raved about dx11 etc but i think it is a bit of a swizz just like dx10 was as well but i do think water seems a bit more real and that's about it

Happens every single generation. Soon it will be all the DX12 rage and everyone will be caught out again. I see my 5870's (I bought for cheaper than a 5850) as one awesomely fast DX8-9-10-11 card that is able to play the latest shaders as and if they appear. Since I have 5870's running in XFire, this will be me now for a few years. Real life expenses is getting too much now to always be buying the latest hot stuff.

What did the hotfix 10.5 fix in bc2??? my copy n card seam ok. heard a lot of bad comments on the 10.6 so gonna stay with 10.5 until a stable version is finally released!!!

will give those dx11 programs a go, nice 1.

oh ya what kind of fps are you getting in dirt 2?

It fixed the long map loading times (also fixed in 10.4a I believe). I get between 35-50 fps all high/ultra except crowd detail, 4xMSAA

Ok, so as a complete novice gpu overclocker, il increase the clock speed and memory clock both at the same time? one at a time? and then what shall i run to test the stability of the overclock?

Do it one at a time, that way if it isn't stable you know what you need to change back. Download Furmark to test stability and temps. If you get little white artifacts ("snow") or it crashes your PC then you obviously need to back off a bit, but I only encountered those kinds of problems when I went over 960 core. In theory temps could hit 100C, but personally I don't like to go over 80C in furmark just as a safety barrier for hot days/dust buildup/etc.

Utter rubbish.

+1, 5770 runs most games at all max, the only thing I ever have to lower is AA/AF and that's only for some games.

kool il was waiting for a response regarding the overclocking cheers. Will start overclocking tonight once i get home from the match. So should i be looking to hit 960?

Yeah, you may get it on stock volts (I did), but if you can't and decide you want to push for 1GHz, download msi afterburner and enable unoffical overclocking so you can mod voltage and raise clocks above 960

How can i get my bc2 to run in dx11? or isnt it available?

In bc2 its default if you have a DX11 card, but it has to be on Vista or Windows 7. If you go into the settings file in mydocuments/bfbc2 you can see it one of the settings.ini set for auto.

I see you have 5770's should work right off the bat. If you do look into the settings file might want to also set your FOV for the res you play at.

How long should i run furmark for? i increased the gpu clock one notch to 780mhz and ive ran furmark for 4 minutes and the temps seem to have levelled off at 75/75C
