DirectX not installed? X3D_Audio1_7.dll missing

If anyone could help it'd be much appreciated. I keep getting this error when running certain games and it's driving me nuts. I'm looking for ways to reinstall DirectX, but can't find anything but youtube videos or sites saying "reinstall DirectX", which isn't any help as Microsoft's website/windows update says I'm up to date.

It also says to not download any DLLs, fair enough, but Microsoft seems hell bent on me installing DirectX 9 which isn't what I want. Sad face.

What version of windows are you running?

That's got links to the latest directX for all window versions.
