• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Directx10

DirectX 10 is just a new version of DirectX. It'll add all sorts of new software tech, and support for new hardware tech, that will allow games to use lots and lots of more complex shaders and better textures and whatnot.

It'll be out at the end of this year or early next year, and will require Windows Vista, but I wouldn't go buying a DirectX 10 card as soon as they come out because there'll only be Crysis worth playing on it until the middle of next year, at which point your card would be obsolete.

Ok, I keep reading about this on here - people waiting for it to come out - and was just wondering when it's coming out and what's going to be so special about it?
Should be with Windows Vista & will not be supported on XP et al. (unless they've changed that again)

They wont change that. DX10 cannot be supported by XP as it relies on the new driver model in vista far too much. Also MS really need a carrot to draw people to upgrade from XP to vista, DX10 will be that carrot for a lot of people.
