Dirt 3 GPU + CPU performance

All maxed out settings DX11+ NV control panel settings all maxed out, but antialising mode (app. controlled) and Antiliasing Transparency Mulitisample... gives me smooth gameplay so far, however fps drops smtmes to 40fps

This thread has got me thinking, I am in the next month or so going to be making a build for my Bro mainly with Bf3 in mind. It was initially going to be a i5 2500k build but the results of this gets me thinking that mabye the AMD route is the way to go also cheaper as well meaning I could get a better graphics card in there.

So is there any other evidence to counter this artice?

This only applies for Dirt 3 though, Nvidia cards perform better generally than AMD cards in Dirt 2, so buying one brand through a perceived performance advantage is usually limited to certain games, and balances out.
