Dirt 3 problems

Hi

I just installed Dirt 3, then found out as part of the process i had to install STEAM which i have always hated, then i found out i had to install Service Pack 3, just so i could install WGFL which i dont like the sound of, then after all that, when i launch the game, it crashes my PC

Has anyone managed to get this game running?

Spec
Core2Duo @ 3.2Ghz
6950 @ Stock
2GB ram @ Stock
Win XP Pro SP2 (upgraded to 3 just for this game)

ive had dirt 3 for a week now and not had a single game , every time i start it i get the "dirt 3 exe stopped responding" error

Yeh I did have an issue but fixed it when it load but just black screen. Do you have windows live?

Do you have steam copy then? I don't need Steam, runs perfectly for me.

I'm sure my hard copy doesn't require steam, then again I got it back in July/August

I had problems with mine until I had steam verify the games cache, no problems since.

Anyways, i finally got Dirt3 running by installing Windows 7, yes, a bit much to ask just to play a game, and to be honest now that i have it going, and i find i have to sign up to windows live and give them my serial number etc etc, i find i wish i hadnt bothered with it all in the first place, as without signing up to this lameness, i cant save my progress in game. WTF is that about?

chrs Codemasters, i can guarantee i will not be buying any of your crap in the future!
