Should it be running playable on this spec:

A64 3000
ATI X1950 PRO 512MB
2GB DDR 400

Im finding that even at low resolutions and low visual settings, the FPS is still "laggy".

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Was worried it was a problem with my new VGA card.

Would have thought they would have made the "LOW" setting less demanding.

Or was it just they couldnt be bothered to optimise a PC version so just ported the 360 one?

i play the game brilliantly, always 60+ fps, BUT when on races with opponents, my fps can sometime drop to 20... even lower if all the cars are infront of me, and some tracks also make my fps lag, its jt a very heavy game.

It's mega cpu intensive. On my old rig (2.5ghz A64 / GTS320) I used to get 18fps on the buggy demo track, that's in 640x480 0xAA 1xAF min settings (turned down options even lower than 'low').

With the same GPU and a 3.2ghz C2D I could play at 1680x1050 medium settings with a min fps of around 23fps.

I think to run the game genuinely smoothly (i.e. even on dirt track with the grid of cars in front of you) you probably need at least a 5ghz C2D, maybe a bit less for quad but I'm not sure how much gain you get from that.

Yep dirt is definitely a cpu intensive game, I found overclocking my q6600 from 2.4 to 3.3 made a huge difference along with my 2900xt overclocked at ultra settings with 2xaa 16xaf I average 40fps with a minimum of 33 and it feels silky smooth.

1920x1440/75HZ Nvidia driver set To High Quality (not default), SuperAA on, all game settings as high as they go:

BioShock 70FPS MIN

MOH-Airbourne 80FPS MIN

DiRT (buggy console port) 35FPS MIN. < Crappy looking game anyhow, more like cartoon.
