Dirt Rally 2.0

In Custom mode am I right in thinking your lap times don’t get updated online? It’s trying to better the online times which I like doing on DR. What are the main areas people have asked to fix/amend so far then?

Just been driving the eco round Poland; it’s a great car.

Something I’ve noticed on consoles similar to D4 is that the replays aren’t 60fps which is a real shame as they were great in DR.

Not sure, TBH, I've only been doing time trials so far. That's practically all I did in Rally 1 as well. Really liking Argentina, currently 11th globally on Miraflores but only around 150 people on the list, more great times will probably come.

Regarding fixes, I've only heard complaints about Racenet ( which works better now and Deluxe owners got 1mil credit as compensation) and FBB. They got the suggestions about making all weather conditions available in TT abs hopefully will go through with it.

Other than that, not much wrong with the game for me except that I'd love more stages/locations.

Thanks will try that stage out.

It's the same deal as in DR1, 6 countries with 2 long pieces of road cut up, jumbled and reversed to create multiple stages + 8 RX circuits this time round. If you enjoyed that, then this game looks better and has more realistic handling with some pretty amazing stages like Argentina.

We'll get some stages from DR1 via DLC + some cars so you may as well wait if you want to get a better deal. If that's all there is rally-wise, then the game will have 9 rally locations in total depending on what's in S2.

Thank's, glad it's reviewing well.

I have been playing this and it’s ok the graphics on One X are decent as is the sound it’s just the game is so dull and boring after a few races. I can only play it for a short amount of time as I get bored.

The cars are far too floaty slidey too. You never feel like you are in much control especially at speed. Rallisport challenge still did it miles better.

It’s a great rally sim but a boring game if that makes sense...

Well, this is a simcade/sim game. It's supposed to be this way, you don't feel like you're entirely in control when driving a rally car on loose surface at full chat either. It's constant twitchy movements, knowing when and how to brake/enter corners, weight shifting, using the handbrake to position the car or initiate slides and throttle steering through corners etc.

When you know those basics and have all assists off, it's exciting, especially in RWD cars. Rallisport Challenge didn't do anything better, it was an arcade game unable to capture any of the above. Granted, a pleasant one to play but far from rewarding. Those games aren't even in the same league, tbh, it's like comparing Assetto Corsa to Need for Speed.

I was lucky enough a while back to have a drive of a focus Rally car and I felt far more in control even on loose surfaces. The game feels very floaty compared to the real thing in my opinion especicially on tarmac whereas the real thing gripped like nothing I have felt before tbh.

Maybe you really need a wheel to get better feedback I was only using a controller.

All depends on the speed you enter those corners, I guess. 4WD cars will slide less. I don't feel cars are too slidey in this, they were in Rally 1. If anything, tarmac is too grippy. Rally drivers often initiate slides on purpose to get through some corners/hairpins faster.

Not saying this game is 100% realistic but it's definitely closer to it than Rallisport or the likes of WRC7:p

I think Rallisport felt better with a controller and gave you that sense of insane speed better. I really think this needs a wheel to get the best from it the small controller movements don’t translate to well on this game.

I think it feels surprisingly good with a controller, it's just harder than Rallisport and requires getting used to going into corners properly. Given the FFB problems people are having, I'd even say controller is better for now:p

Arcade rallying is just easier, that's why it feels "better" on controller as there is simply less to control. You can change steering saturation in options to make your car react better to smaller twitches of the analog.
IMO, you should give it some time to get used to how it works and you'll have fun.

Been playing this on PC and it’s definately an improvement over the first one, cars feel much better, graphics aren’t massively improved bar the car models and lighting but already enjoying it more than the first. Considering picking up a wheel to go with it.

Well watching Digital Foundry explains it. I’ve been didsapinted with the Gfx on this game since I fired it up last week. Something just looks off and its very blurry. I couldn’t believe the jump in visual quality seeing it on the oneX at 4K it looks genuinely impressive. PS4 pro only running at 1080p. Just goes to show 1080p looks poor on a 4K screen. Should be at least 1440p which tends to look a step up. If the oneX would have actually had some decent exclusives I would have bought one but can’t justify it, especially with new consoles out in 12-18 months.

Graphics massively improved now on PS4 Pro; looks much sharper and has lost that Vaseline like effect. Really nice looking game now, especially on Monaco. The lighting really stands out; very impressive in hdr at times now.

Still lots of features downgraded since Dirt Rally. The biggest of which is replays on at 30fps which I was appalled at on Dirt 4 lol. Just looks crap and so I don’t bother with replays which were amazing on Dirt Rally. Also there’s loads of different weather/time of day for time trial in Dirt Rally but only Day/clear Monaco on DR2.

Still a really nice game to drive on a pad though; far better than any other on console imo. Oh and the sound is way above any other game especially GT Sport.

Have played a few hours of this at a mates house and I think that Richard Burns Rally is still king. This isn't far off, but the latter is the closest I have ever found to the real thing. Will pick this up when it's LOTS cheaper.

Good to hear Wales coming to Dirt Rally 2.0. These should have all been included anyway but Wales was my favourite in DR so looking forward to playing these stages. Just wish Codemasters would give more weather and time of day combinations in TT as I only play TT.

Is anyone still playing this? Have the ffb issues been fixed? I was put off getting this near release due to the FFB issues. I can find lots of information and articles on the FFB issues but I'm struggling to find any info if there has been patches to it and if the FFB is any good now.

I got this last week, played it and it is bolt hard! Although I went straight in with a 911 and ar5e out everywhere lol Must to too used to Horizon!
