Dirt Showdown Demo=Avoid & save the almost 3Gb Download

Well I think its safe to say the Dirt 2/3/Showdown style game has run its course. Hopefully Codemasters will realise and go and play some CMR games before starting out on Dirt 4.

Agreed. CMR 2005 is what they need to go back and play, and then play DiRT 3 and see what the problem is...

Just a normal, a - b fast as you can down real rally tracks, dirt tracks without the stupid OTT announcers is what we now need...

I really do not want to hear "awesome" "post to youtube" once I've finished my rally... I just want to progress to the next stage and drive from a - b as quick as a can as if I was actually in a real rally..

Erm, just like CMR 2005 did, back in erm 2005. Oh dear..!!

Dirt 2 was an excellent game, the presentation if a bit marmite, doesn't reflect on the content(at least for me). The Rallycross, Rally, Trailblazer and Landrush stuff was all excellent fun, sure the Rally stuff wasn't super long and multi-staged, but for some people that is a bonus. Interesting tracks, great visuals, fun to drive vehicles, no Gymkhana, no intrusive ads for DLC.. or any DLC at all, heaps of events and cars/trucks/buggies.

Given how Dirt 3 turned out, I don't hold out much hope for 4, or any future game from them, for that matter.

Just played the demo, it really is pants. Its not a patch on the Demolition Derby mode in Grid. Hell, even Fallout Ultimate Carnage is way better than this Dirt Showdown cack. The OP is right, the demo is very poor, if you want to find out yourself, download the demo. I bet you uninstall it right after to get your 3gb HDD space back.

Absolutely shameful really considering Codemasters made both Grid and Dirt, I know they were different studios of CM but the difference in the games is like night and day.

Shame on you CM, shame on you! No sell from me, get some help from the people that made Grid and make a real Demolition/Destruction Derby game!

I don't understand how it can be bad, after all it is only cars smashing into each other...not the trickiest game to develop.

I'll try it and see, I doubt its that bad but then again I'd probably have fun if it WAS actually pretty bad.

I agree completely. Dirt 3 still had some good races, but the overall package wasn't a patch on Dirt 2. I hated the gymkhana, DLC, ads, etc too.

I've tried the dirt showdown demo, and the big disappointment for me is that it's just one race, and one that is pretty random and frustrating. It's hard to tell what the whole game will be like from that one race. I'd have preferred at least 3 races to showcase some different styles (if there are any) and tracks - that would have been a much better demo than this lazy effort.

It's not just one mode. There's a Multiplayer Destruction Derby style bowl mode too that you unlock after the first race.

I wasn't very good at it but didn't think it was too bad really.

You guys are all asking why they don't do a 'proper'rally game anymore? I have an answer for you. THEY DON'T SELL. Amercian and Japanese gamers don't buy dedicated rally games any more, that's why there hasn't been one in years. Games need to sell globally these days. Selling well in the UK gets a game nothing these days.
