dirt2 code not working with LIVE

Had a strange problem yesterday, I downloaded my copy of Dirt 2 from steam. Installed successfully. When I ran the game I could not use that code for my LIVE profile............ Anyone know why?
 
read something along the line of wrong country codes etc? ie your live account etc could be wrong mind.
 
You're meant to use a different code to the one you use to add it to steam. It doesn't explain that very well. Right click on Dirt 2 in steam and click on 'View game CD key'. This is the one you need for LIVE.
 
When you load up Dirt 2 from steam it should display a different code? Not one that you have claimed from a graphics card etc. Use that code instead :)
