So just to be clear...breaks in to a lone female students room, thankfully she's not there, then decides to knock one out over her possessions.

At first pretends to be innocent, only admits it after hes presented with DNA evidence. Suspended sentence. Not deported. Not kicked out of uni.

I've mentioned the story on here before but a guy from my uni (quite possibly the same uni as this story) was kicked out for a later disproven accusation of rape whereby his accuser was actually charged.

Also MASSIVE safeguarding issue with the fact the access card system allowed access to any room.

Why are we so soft on crime?

Not deported.

SO owners of the building or management company deserves to be sued for lack of care and safety over their occupants.
Any hotel I visit, I try my card on other's doors to ensure its not an access to all, had a lady step into my hotel room years ago when I was in the shower. Hotel gave them a key to my room.

Given he has clearly lied and backtracked, can never be trusted and should be removed from education and visa status 100%.
This is before we look at the individual that could have been there to commit a sex based crime.

Why are we so soft on crime?
To appease the world in that: everyone is an individual and have their own reasons, trend analysis does not work and because every human has rights.

I disagree, if you have taken another human rights through violence or sexual violence, your own human rights should not count.
If you dont care about others rights, why should anyone care about yours.

Expecting some ragey comments in reply to the above....

It mentions the University were waiting until this sentencing hearing to decide what to do as far as his course/visa goes, will be interesting to see how they now respond.

That must have been a challenging...wink.

Yadav was sentenced to 14 months suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements, 200 hours unpaid work and £117 compensation for three Jellycat soft toys and bed covers.

That’s just gross...

I doubt his fellow students will make him very welcome if he is still studying there; if they all took a teddy to the next class and turned round as one and asked him if he wanted to borrow it how long would he stick around for?

was kicked out for a later disproven accusation

Seems the uni didn't want to react too quickly like they did with your friend and waited until sentencing but they did kick him out of accommodation.

"Yadav, who has completed first year and wants to progress to masters level, has a student visa but would have to leave the UK if that were withdrawn and added: "The university has said they will consider that position following the sentencing hearing."

Maybe the uni will kick him out or impose further restrictions on him now he has been sentenced.

Also MASSIVE safeguarding issue with the fact the access card system allowed access to any room.

That’s a **** up for sure but the site manager aka caretakers used to manage the Net2 door access system at a school I worked at and they didn’t have a clue really.

It ended up being managed by the IT team so we could create the security groups etc. Still not infallible when you’ve got a head that demands a full access card and then gives it away to a TA base near the school because they hired one of the halls…

Then they made all the IT staff redundant so the new caretakers and outsourced IT who had never used it before have to manage it, I mean what could go wrong...

Edit:
The UK does seem to struggle with the human rights act when trying to remove criminals where as other countries with the same legislation seem to manage just fine.

Shall we add more information from the article, rather than leave just the info to appease your rant?

Yadav was sentenced to 14 months suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements, 200 hours unpaid work and £117 compensation for three Jellycat soft toys and bed covers.

The court heard Yadav was moved out of university accommodation and told he had to find alternative living arrangements.

Miss Mellor said Yadav, who has completed first year and wants to progress to masters level, has a student visa but would have to leave the UK if that were withdrawn and added: "The university has said they will consider that position following the sentencing hearing.

Im pretty sure I have seen this film and many others like it.
Well you won’t be able to watch it again without showing your government issued id*

“On 24 April 2025, the protection of children codes of practice were laid in Parliament and Ofcom published guidance on how providers should carry out risk assessments for assessing the risk of harm to children. Services likely to be accessed by children, now have 3 months with a deadline of 24 July 2025, to complete their children’s risk assessment. The child safety regime will be fully in effect by Summer 2025.”

Not kicked out of uni.

The last sentence of the linked story says: Miss Mellor said Yadav, who has completed first year and wants to progress to masters level, has a student visa but would have to leave the UK if that were withdrawn and added: "The university has said they will consider that position following the sentencing hearing.". Seems a bit premature to claim he won't be kicked out of uni, hopefully they'll act appropriately now the legal side has wrapped up.

I am surprised that a custodial sentence, even a suspended one, isn't grounds for immediate revocation of a student visa though but apparently suspended sentences aren't counted as custodial sentences for the purpose of visa acceptance or cancellation which means any cancellation of his visa is discretionary rather than mandatory.

"The court heard Yadav was moved out of university accommodation and told he had to find alternative living arrangements."

So the uni is happy to keep a student studying even though he has:
- Abused their failed system
- Masturbated over another students items
- could have undertaken further sexual crimes to the student above and possible other students
- He also admitted to lying about abusing the failed system amongst lying about what he did in that students room

"The court heard Yadav was moved out of university accommodation and told he had to find alternative living arrangements."

Another useless UK system that is happy to consider the human rights of a sexual predator, but not to consider the human rights of their victims.
