hi there - this may be the wrong section to post it but couldnt think where else

firstly i have moved my pc to downstairs next to the tv to use as a htpc as the laptop is always being used instead of the desktop now
i have it all setup using xbmc and a windows remote which works great and i can hibernate the pc and start it back up using the remote
i have therefore disconnected the keyboard and mouse as i have a 2 year and a 1 year old in the house!
now the only think im trying to figure out now is how to stop them from pressing the power button on the case to bring the pc out of hibernation?
i cant move the pc im afraid as space doesnt allow and cant afford to build a proper sff as yet
i did read someone before with a similar issue and they disconnected the power switch from the button and re-located it to the IO panel
i would like to do that if i could as they cant reach the back of the pc case
if this is possible then is it as straight forward as it sounds or should i be buying a new switch/adapter to fit correctly into the IO panel

sorry if this all sounds confusing

You can by a replacement switch, so just unhitch the case power button from the motherboard header and plug in a new switch and run it to where you need it, they are small so will fit through a fan grill and tuck away discretely away from little fingers.

The easiest would be to buy a replacement power switch and lead for a few quid.

Next easiest would be to buy a SPST momentary switch and fit to the existing wires. The trouble here is that you'd have to re attach the wires to the original switch if you ever wanted to use it again. You can then move the switch anywhere you like. You could even leave bare wires if you wish and just short them together every time you need to wake or boot up. You can get many different types of SPST momentary from around £1 or so on certain well known auction site. You may need to extend the wires with something too. You could bare, twist and insulate rather than solder as the line doesn't carry much current.

cheers guys - thought it could be quite simple
glad i can actually do this and keep the pc switched off (in hibernate) when it needs to be rather than sitting there idle all day etc

thanks again
