I have always disabled it, I can't stand it. I often find that people don't understand what the hell it means and don't know what to click on, do I've disabled it on their PC's also.
Isn't this a sign of software which isn't 'fully compatible' with the OS? I see plenty of other programs such as foobar2000 and VLC which store their settings under the %USER%\AppData heirarchy. On a more serious note, mine is diabled because I use MPC-HC, playlists/favs do not save if UAC is enabled because the program needs write access to a file in the install directory, UAC stops this. There are some other apps that don't work properly becaus eof it as well but are less important..
First thing I do when I do a fresh install is disable it. Never had a problem.
Couldn't you just use the zipped version of MPC instead of the installer, and run it from somewhere other than the Program Files heirarchy?Yeah but I'm not going to ditch the best media player just because it doesn't obey some OS guidelines!
favourites and settings are stored to the registry unless store to .ini is ticked in view >> options >> player, so by default it works fine. Certainly works for me anyway.
I prefer ini because I back up the MPC directory to preserve changes during my weekly backups along with other apps and settings.
