Hey guys, any disabled gamers/pc builders here?
How you get along with your disability and gaming/computer building? Do you have any tips or tricks you use?

I'm disabled too, my left arm is completely paralyzed(brachial plexus injury(BPI)) after motorcycle accident
Took me a while to get back into gaming, first I tried playing my old xbox360 but with one hand...it was very difficult so I moved on to pc(laptop)
Ive started easy, either mouse controlled games only like age of empires to keyboard controlled games only which mostly was racing games like nfs or sims like ETS2

I dont know how but one day i used my feet to contol ''W'' and ''S'' keys and from then it just got better and better
I bought Logitech G600(it has like 12 sude buttons and g-switch button so it doubles up to 24 buttons, in total theres like 36 buttons) i use for gaming to control ''jump'' ''running'' ''reload'' etc and I use my feet to control a keybord underneeth my desk that I use for movement so ''W'' ''S'' is controlled by my left foot and ''left arrow'' and ''right arrow'' is controlled by my right foot
I get along just fine, I can play all games I want now :)

I would love to see if you came up with other tricks to be able to play games :)

Also I would love to play playstation games like spiderman or horizon zero dawn but sadly you need both hands to use a controller :( Only if I could use mouse and keyboard with playstation, that would be my dreams come true to be able to play spiderman! My favourite superhero :)

Thanks guys, Ive seen xbox controller/device thing for disabled people unfortunately it wont work with playstation and I dont see a point of buying this and xbox because pretty much 90% games from xbox are on PC
I would love if Playstation did something like this :) or bring their games to pc which would be perfect in every way...man can dream :)

On another note im so happy that microsoft did something like this enabling disabled people get back to gaming! Big props to them :)

Shouldn't be too hard to do I suppose.

It would be a case of opening the controller up, making a hole in the side and running a cable from the controls you want to replace down to a foot controller for them.

It would just take a bit of planning as I suppose you'd need to move the L1, L2, dpad and left analogue stick.

in fact, you could replace them all with a plate for each foot that picks up forwards, backwards and sideways movements with a button each under big toes for L1 and L2

As mentioned above there are adaptive controllers and also devices to use mouse/keyboard on Playstation. Not sure if you can map keys manually to suit your needs but maybe.

Someone mentioned wiring buttons manually to gear which fits your needs, that is also very possible! Controller and keyboard buttons are just wires to connect really :)

There's a charity who set up specialised gaming equipment for people. I think they usually do it with profound disabilities but it's well worth getting in touch - https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/
 
Logitech have recently announced a bunch of inputs for the xbox controller as well.

As others have said, plenty of options to get it to work with the PlayStation. I personally hate the PlayStation controller so used a converter for a number of years.

Oh, also worth setting up "voice attack" to allow you to make keyboard presses and create macros that can be controlled with your voice.

Don't shy a way from investigating VR as well. Plenty of games that make use of a gamepad (so you could use the xbox adaptive controller) or only require one controller. Even Beat Saber has "one controller" mode :)

Combine VR with a good steering wheel and pedals for racing games or single joystick combined with VoiceAttack and you've got access to some of the best experiences money can buy.

i agree if your a disabled gamer and your having difficulties with controlllers it worth getting in touch with specialeffects they will find or modify a controller right for the person

E: I love that you have a strict gaming schedule that specifies actual titles :D
 
known a few disabled gamers in my time seems theres quite a few guys that have a setup where they can game whilst laying down in bed
 
I occasionally watch a disabled gamer on twitch, fully paralysed uses a combination of Tubes that suck/blow to input buttons, Eye tracking with Track IR and Voice attack https://voiceattack.com/ (used this for elite dangerous myself it works)

While I'm glad you're not fully paralysed some of this might be helpful

You chaps are inspirational :)

My primary barrier is pain. I play short sessions with long gaps, and do the same for building PCs. I can't do the things or enjoy the hobbies I used to, but I'm very lucky compared to many.
