Does anybody know whether disabling the IGPU on a 2500k would lower temps and or volts?

If so, how do you disable it in the bios? If the above would indeed be the case then surely we could potentially get more from our cpu in the way of overclocking due to lower temps and vcore.

need to reboot computer to find out, l have an P8Z68-v/Gen3 l think they bios maybe the similar.

Advanced mode.
Advanced tab.
System Agent Configuration.
Graphics Configuration.
Initiate iGPU Disable/Enable.

It was my understanding that if you have a Z68 board, a discrete graphics card and don't enable lucid virtu then the onboard GPU goes into a low power state - so it really shouldn't affect your performance, temperatures, overclocks or power usage.

Great thanks, got there no probs BUT!!....I saw it says have enabled to enable lucid virtu. so my question now is does the lucid virtu work on the asus p8z68 deluxe board as it doesn't have any on board i/o ports.

On the asus product page it says:

ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE motherboards retain iGPU accessibility alongside native LucidLogix® Virtu™ support for auto switching between integrated graphics and discrete graphics cards. This enables full use of Sandy Bridge iGPU features for improved media performance regardless of whether you use onboard or add-on VGA output.

Lucid Virtu can work in D-mode (with the main connection made through the discrete graphics card, but preserving access to the onboard graphics core) for tasks like Intel Quick Sync, though I don't think you get much in the way of power savings (which you could if the board supported i mode)

Thanks, guess i'll leave it enabled then. ;)

well I've got a 3770k - I set the max clock and volt to the lowest possible settings, and have noticed around 5'C temperature change on load. Amazing, really. It's not doing anything but its consuming them watts.

Just tried this with my 2600k...

Does seem to reduce the temps at light load by 2-4'C.

The power useage difference is barely noticeable though.

Cheers for telling us how to find it btw. :D

Sorry this came up on a google search (old thread)
I just got my Sabertooth Z77 with i7 3770K
Seems like, after reading this thread, my MSI GTX660ti doesn't need any sort of Lucid or iGPU being enabled.

Going to disable that now :)

I still dont feel that Virtu mvp is worth anything at the moment, i ve disabled in as well because it was interfering with Matlab...while running on system tray any attempt to lunch Matlab would result into a runtime error. At least for the latest version of Virt mvp. As soon as i uninstalled the damn thing everything was working fine. Though i had to format my computer in order to discover the problem hehe
