1st post , so hope sig is ok ,

before i get to problem , let me just say thanks to all members as i have picked up a few tips along the way.....
RIGHT TO BUSINESS I HAVE A IDE HARD DRIVE THAT I HAVE INSTALLED /FORMATTED ECT..., BUT FOR SOME STRANGE REASON EVERY NOW AND AGAIN WHEN I BOOT UP IT JUST SEEMS TO GO AWOL ON ME & IS NOT THERE...

ANY IDEAS .........THANKS

Overuse of capitals if you ask me.. and your sig is much to big. Have you checked out the hard drives data cable and power cable?

Sometimes my old PATA drives wouldn't detect and the reason was because I unplugged the molex connector so many times it made it "lose" and a slight knock of the case would make it not connect properly.

WILL EDIT SIG .

HAVE CHECKED ALL CABLES ALL SECURE , THIS DRIVE CAN BE THERE ON ONE BOOT , THEN FOR SOME REASON NOT ON NEXT?

When I had 2 pata DVDRW's I would occasionally get to windows then notice one of them was missing, but it only rarely happened but a reboot would fix it. Does it happen to you a lot, you say you have checked the cables, have you tried replacing the data cable with a different one?

I would say 1 in 4 boots it's not there , have tried a couple of cables , same result....
Might not seen that big a deal but its things like this that bug the **** out of me ......

Thanks for the ideas

I quite agree, it would bug the hell out of me too - especially if it had data on it which I wanted to use each time my comp was booted. Perhaps someone else has some cunning ideas to fix it.
