Disappointed switcher **solved - Happy switcher now**

Might have a lot to do with it being a kind of 'only point of return' for apple stuff, where as normal pc's will be getting returned over a wide range of retailers?

I'm not sure what this is in response to, as you didn't quote any posts. However, I'm guessing it was my comment that Apple have great customer service that you wouldn't get from purple shirt land or similar?

To be fair, regardless of how many OEMs there are etc, the consumer's contract is with the supplying store. Several times, in fact, I've either had to return a faulty Win laptop or accompanied a friend doing the same ('You know what to say' lol)... I have to say those kinds of retailers do absolutely everything in their power to either dissuade you, fob you off or pull you into a protracted 'return and repair' service.

Obviously on an older laptop that's acceptable, but when (as was the case for me) the unit is less than two days old and faulty, and the retailer tells you tough - the SoGA is wrong, and they don't have to deal with you it's your own problem, ring the OEM... Well...

Whereas with Apple, I walked in, explained my situation, and walked out a few minutes later with a brand new machine. Winrar. Or should I say, Stuffit! :D :p

Not really true is it - e.g. I could have purchased from * ,*, * or * etc. in which case one would have to return through those retailers.
