Disappointed with Hi-def

Not the picture quality. It's just that I always hoped that the Hi-def releases would be the absolute definitive realeses, however many of them are missing the extras found on the DVD releases.

Take one of my favourite films, Predator... Now on DVD format it has a single disc edition, a 2 disc edition, a special edition and a definitive edititon. Now I was hoping that the Blu-ray version of this film would come with all the extras from the DVD releases but apparently not as it has virtually no extras. Does this mean we will be getting a special/collectors/definitive Blu-ray release of this film in the future with these included? If so should I hold off on buying it? Is anyone else slightly annoyed by this?

I would guess that the movie studios are going to milk the HD sector for all it's worth, and will start with basic releases but then slowly start bringing out new versions with all the extras.

This is why I'm avoiding blue-ray. it's just a scam to get people to replace their movie collection. The extra quality is certainly good, but nothing like the step change we saw from VHS to DVD. The cost of the media is also a joke.

its the same as when DVD came out, naturally they want to put out minimal product with maximum price which is fairly easy with a new technology as it has a selling point other than extras and stuff. I'm putting off getting bluray for now, DVD's are so cheap now and my upscaling player does a good job on my 32" screen.

I made a promise to myself i wouldn't replace any of my dvds but any new titles i would get on blu ray thats probably the best way to go about it.
