Hi all,

Driving past this fella on my way home and starting to really fall in love.

http://www.shukers.shrewsbury.land...H8072/vehicle/1462106?sReferrer=DWSImageWall

Trouble is I'm a complete land rover newbie so basically just love the look, features etc.

I've recently moved to deepest darkest Shropshire and live in a fairly remote area so I really need a 4x4 anyway - 'cause theres bound to be loads of snow etc soon ;).

So anyway, good bye / bad buy / go buy a Suzuki opinions ?

If ya got the cash, get it bought! We have a 4 and love it! :D

Just be prepared for attracting a lot of attention!

its overpriced if you want a disco.... its whatever someone will pay you for it if its a G4 one.... special edition and all that.

You could buy a disco4 just about for that money. id definitely do that. much better engine in the disco4.

Bad buy, you'll pay through the nose.

Get a defender and bung an 8274 on the front if you are going to take it into the sticky stuff.
I ****ing love landrovers :D

This is mine, up to it's ******** in Welsh peat :D

This. But if you would get more pleasure from that than from a sports car or something then go for it.

Yeah I've just sold my sports car (Lotus Exige) the lane up to my house is really rutted and potholed otherwise I'd go for another one - I miss it badly.

Yeah - deep down I know this to be true. I've had an idea of buying a Defender for a while now - just an old honest one to be going on with and get the feel.

...but I still love that G4....

£31k?!

I'd spend £10-£15k less on one thats not orange and covered with bits that A) will not be used and B) will be a nightmare to clean around :D

Welcome to Shropshire BTW, i'm in Market Drayton :(

Defenders are shocking to drive though an old design that's not really been updated! I would buy a Toyota land cruiser instead....

Tangiers Orange :D - Love it :D

I've been after one for years but can't stomach the hike in price due to the G4 heritage.

For what it is, its a good price, low miles it will have been looked after due to being a special edition build for the G4 challenge.

In disco terms though its not great value, they command a huge premium over standard disco's and dont offer anything extra unless you are a real fan and understand the heritage and have a big love for LR and G4 stuff.

On the whole though you cant go wrong with a Disco 3 or Disco 4 - they are superb, without doubt the best 4x4 available as shown by their award winning status. Dont even consider a defender if you are looking at a disco, even new ones leak, creak and are very basic - its a love hate thing, personally I love them and have owned several but if you want a disco then its not for you.
