sine getting my Belkin wireless router my windows live disconnects like crazy and randomly, is it possible I need to forward my ports for Windows Live?

Does anyone by any chance know the ports even, cheers:)

Try enabling UPNP first, this allows ports when they are needed, if that fails then here are the ports:

Messenger server: port 1493, 1542, 1863, 1963, 80 TCP and 443 TCP
File Transfer/Sharing Folders: local: 1544 and 6891 - in fact 6720-65535 TCP from one source
Messenger Update: remote: 80 local: 1457
Remote Assistance If available): 3389 TCP
Audio: local: , 1556, 11771, 13803 and generally 5004-65535 UDP
Remote Desktop and whiteboard: local/remote: 389, 522, 1503, 1720, and 1731
Launching Games: 80
Video Conference: TCP 9000-9999, 5004-65535 UDP + 80
Sign-In: remote: 443 local: 1484, 2400

That looks like rather an OTT list. I think I have one block of ports open for filesharing and that's it. Mind you, I haven't installed Live on my home network yet (well, it's on the laptop, but I've only used that in the office since the OS reinstall).

It doesn't need any ports forwarding - and it can work perfectly with only outgoing port 80 open (bar transferring files).

Must be disconnecting for another reason...

thx for the ideas, ive enabeld UPNP see how it goes with windows Live.

Yeah I did consider it might be just something else disconnecting my windows live cant see what though, never had any issues with my 10 year old frog ADSL USB modem not since switching to the Belkin router.
