I am using the Voyager 205 FWIW :) You can get them quite cheaply used. I don't know what the best router would be with that feature though.

Did you download the correct version of DMT for your router as they are all different? And put in your login and password etc?

Yeah I believe so. It doesnt seem that the DG834G is supported, but the DG834GT is

Arghhh dont know what to do? Should I get a new router then? If so can anyone recommend a good wireless router which I can limit the sync rate on please?

The answer was posted way back:

You're probably going to have to ask to get the target SNR margin turned up.

This will have the end result of reducing your sync rate, and all will be well. Just ask your ISP.

Speedtouch 585i will do it no problems.

ISP advised this needs to be done directly with BT - is that correct?

Do I specify what I want it upping to? If so, what would you recommend?

Thanks

Sounds like ISP's telling porkies. You need to get BT Wholesale to do this, and you can try till you're blue in the face - they won't listen to you. They only deal with the ISPs, so you have to go through them.

Not sure if you spec what you want it going to, but iirc the steps are in multiples of 3 (6, 9, 12 etc). Just ask them for the next level up, I suppose.

My ISP (Freedom2Surf) wouldn't do this for me which is why I had to resort to solving the problem myself... which seems to be the norm for ADSL services. I agree that it shouldn't be that way.

No I mean capping my sync, which results in a higher SNR margin. It is a guaranteed solution because you can just keep reducing it until you hit a stable level.

But yes it would be better to try what tolien and others said first - I hope your ISP is more accommodating than mine was/is.

Really you should be able to contact BT directly, and not have to rely on incompetent and/or disinterested ISPs :(

Ideally it should be automated, and some interface provided to the ISPs. As it is, a human has to look at every request (ergo don't expect it to happen instantaneously).
The DLM should catch it if you're seeing a lot of disconnects too.

Ugh no, that would be another world of hell. If nothing else, Ofcom would have a field day.

which seems to be the norm for ADSL services

There's an abundance of crappy ISPs...it's not really a reflection on ADSL.

One of the reasons I had to leave them - they weren't interested in my problem. CS at F2S has really hit an all time low.
