Seems like most of the "mainstream" press haven't even picked up on this yet. Or are just choosing to ignore it (maybe at the government's request lol)

I won't be shocked if BBC have had their marching orders. When it first came into force, BBC kept selling it as needing to verify for "adult content" (so porn to a lot of people) and not much else, basically trotted out the government's line. They did have one article which was allegedly "both sides" but it was just two randoms instead of experts and very light on details.

No real coverage given to any of the legit criticisms people have.

The hilarious thing is, there's tons of websites out there which are far more predatory and dangerous that simply don't care. A huge chunk of the internet is still easily accessed that's far worse than the "legit" sites out there with material that's a million times worse.

You want to save the children? Make it illegal for kids to have smart devices until they're 16 outside of heavily curated areas such as school. It'd help a whole lot in cognitive development too, you sit a kid in front of a screen of endless nonsense you can't expect them to become a functional adult. I hopped on a bus the other day into Newcastle for a concert, two women on board were holding their phones in front of their babies faces to "entertain" them -- aka stop them from crying. I dread to think of how much long term damage that sort of thing is doing.

We used to mock the "great firewall of China" and now we're watching the powers that be attempt to do the same thing.
