So i decided to splash out on some training for some 3D software 2 days ago, and spent $500. The product itself is mainly sent in the post but a couple of things are downloadable. The physical dvd's are in the post and with regards the downloadable stuff ive downloaded one topic so far.

Today ive noticed the place is having a 20% discount off of every product so i'm a bit ****ed i missed out, though i know its just the way things are. Though i did wonder if i had any kind of leg to stand on to say delete the order and re-order. I'm guessing not since its in the post and ive downloaded one section but anyone know any more solid info on my options?

happened to me with a coat i bought, went to the same shopping centre a week later, noticed it was on sale, went home and found the receipt, went up again the next day with the receipt, i took it back, got a refund, walked back in, bought the same one at the discounted price. lot of hassle but we were talking about £95 here. don't know how it would work with online sales though

I dont know your rights but the first I thing would do is contact them and ask them if they can refund you the 20% as you feel that you have over paided given that they must have known 2 days ago that the price was about to drop.

I would think most companies would give you the money back to save a customer maybe but that will all depend on the company.

Its still a hard one though as they might be able to say that they dont have to give you anything at all if they dont offer a price match offer over so many days. Also it might depend as well where the company is based.

Just try your luck whats the worse that can happen really.

Phone up, explain and ask for a good faith gesture - split the difference perhaps (10% discount)? You have no leg to stand on, but the company may help you out.

Happened with me today, bought two things from MyProtein and i get an email today saying 'Free delivery'...*******...

Yeah ill probably drop them an email and see what happens.

I know i may be out of luck but its worth a try and if the stuff ive bought is decent theres a good chance id buy a lot more over the years, so a good will gesture from them could well get them more money in the long run.

It is a pain the backside.
I bought my Sony 650 E-Reader just over the "Distance Selling Regulations" limit.
Then they introduced a VAT rebate, so could have saved myself 17.5% was annoying but hay, not a lot you can do.

It's a bit of a gray area because you were initially happy to pay x amount for it, so they can say that what happened in the future happened in the future
Haven't we had a thread along similar lines recently?

EDIT - just noticed I'm over 500 posts!

Training companies I would think rely on rep, and return business, so you never know, give them a push.
They certainly don't have to give you the discount, but hey.

I bought an iron from a shop for 60 pounds, then, to my disgust, I saw an advert for the same thing a week later with a 40% discount. It happens.

My main issue with this kind if thing are the constant discounts some companies offer, its not really on, just be honest and drop the price, you'll have more respect and trust. Which doesn't always equal profit, so its understandable from a cold hard profit point of view, cheap sofas are a prime example, they make a 300 pound sofa, try and fail to sell it for a grand, so then offer a 'massive' 50% discount

Pretty sure I've seen OcUK let people off with this before. But then again OcUK is particularly awesome. It's worth a try though.

I've gone back into the purple shirt place 2 days after buying my laptop as I'd noticed they'd knocked the price down by £60 on their website.

They refunded me the £60 :)

I called up a company and ordered about £700 worth of stuff, then I noticed on their website that they had a 10% off online orders offer, I rang up and got the £70 refunded. Excellent.

Well got an email straight back from the guy and hes more than happy to refund the money. Cant ask for any more than that, the moneys already back in my account.

At least theres some companies like that still out there, because at the end of the day, i get to feel good having got a discount and he'll be happy in the long run as i'll definately be buying lots more from the guy, which will amount to lots more than the % discount.

Good stuff!
