So I'm watching the discovery channel and the adverts come on and a trailer comes on for a new series regarding drugs...

It's a program that has a host with all matters of drug dealers right up until the big guns. All the dealers and what have you are masked. Now my question is, why is no one reporting this or at least informing the police about there stuff.

Surely as a citizen it's their duty to inform the authorities of such things. Not make a show of it and turn a blind eye?

Don't they have laws to protect annoymous sources?

Also the liklyhood is that if the journalist can find them they're probally already on some watch list somewhere because they're clearly not good at hiding :D

An awful lot of this sensationalist cheap is "recreated", in other words fake. Discovery and to a much greater degree TLC stopped being an informative or edumakashonul channel a long time ago. They just go for the wow factor these days.
There is an awful lot of formulaic crap out there now. I mean just how many ways can they film people digging up gold, catching fish, chopping wood etc? It's all the same.
(I'm a BIG fan of Deadliest Catch, probably the only programme worth watching out of the whole lot. But it's still painfully set up and staged.)

I don't care as long as they keep it up, I find something incredibly appealing about Gold Rush!

The "documentary" channels have become a bit of a laughing stock, I used to enjoy Axe Men at least the first season anyway and then it became far too fake. If it wasn't for Gold Rush (Gold Divers too) and Deadliest Catch I would ditch that part of the Sky package.

It's this newish wave of augmented reality stuff. Just like American Guns and Sons of Guns. The fakeness fast becomes a turn off to the discerning veiwer.

American Guns is **** :p I did watch Sons of Guns, for the guns though however some of their stuff really was ****.

Gold Rush: Alaska?

Not sure if it's fake or not, but I don't care, I like it.

not sure about that one but there's another one that was

set in a jungle but I can't remember what it was called.

moon shiners was definitely fake though although the guys do live there

Same here, part of me thinks with all the screw ups that it might be fake but another part thinks maybe Todd is really that inept :D.

The clean outs always seem quite large which is another point that crosses my mind but as you say, I don't care, I just like to watch the gold and the big machines!

And if I ever win the lottery I will definitely be buying a Cat D11, beast!

Yea, I agree the channel is a mess these days. Like most in the documentary section. None of it is really educational. I just like switching it on from time to time after work to watch Mythbusters, which is now fast becoming tiresome.

Hence I don't watch TV. I only watch films these days. Adverts drive me up the wall. Had I lived on my own right now, I wouldn't bother with a TV subscription.
