This is something for you all to read and give opinions on. What you think? This was an email sent to orange by myself, still waiting for reply.

Hi there, a customer representative phoned me to check to see if my new contract was going ok. I said yes everything is fine. I asked the customer representative if it was possible to upgrade my phone to a new tariff they said I was able to get Dolphin 35 (500 mins/ unlimited texts) for £35.00 a month and 12 month contract. The call ended and I phoned 150 from my mobile (The line was very busy) so I hung up and phoned again 2 days later (Tonight). The representative said this was not possible to get my tariff upgraded at all. I asked why and the representative said that the systems would not allow it. I said alright and then hung up. I then decided to ring back to try one last time to ask to make sure, this time the customer services said that it was possible to upgrade my tariff but it would only be a 18 month contract. I have cancelled all direct debits from my account because of this so no money will be going from me to orange as I am disgusted in orange customer service. I want my contract cancelling. If orange can not cancel my account then there will be no more payments made to orange as there is now no direct debit on my account and I will not be paying it manually. Sorry about this but I’m so angry at this moment. If you could email me to let me know what will happen. Thanks

Are you still in your first 14 days of the contract because surely you could just return the phone?

The 500 minutes and unlimited texts is an 18 month contract. The 12 month equivalent is 275 minutes and 750 texts so I can't imagine there's much they'll do for you.

It's in your best interests not to withhold payments to Orange. If your account goes into default, you'll pay the price in multiples through worse credit ratings which will affect every aspect of your financial life.

By all means scream and argue with them, but you will regret not paying Orange without prior consent or agreement.

24 days into it now only 12 month contract though. alough an extra 200 mins and 150 texts is good enough for £10.00 but i aint sure wether or not to upgrade that as 75 mins is too low for me. We shall see.

I'm pretty sure that there is no "unlimited" offers on 12-month contracts. Any "unlimited" offers are, AFAIK, 18-month only. So the person who called you initially was probably mistaken, or had access to special deals outside the normal offers (unlikely).

Sounds like either a confused advisor giving out wrong information, or crossed lines. Either way, to be honest I'm not sure you'll get far in terms of complaining or compensation, since what they "offered" doesn't form part of the original contract you signed for your current contract. Therefore it's not a justified reason for cancelling your contract or withholding payment.

In any case, good luck whatever you decide to do. :)

Sounds like you know your stuff, correct the advisor was wrong. I intend to not take this matter further. Thanks for advice :)
