Disk Cache won't disable

Abit AW9D Max, RAID 0 on 2x 72000.10's using the Intel SATA RAID and WinXP Pro.

The Disable screen in Device Manager is grayed out

Intel Matrix GUI let me 'disable' it, but when I restarted, it reported it as OFF, but Device Manager reported it as ON and still grayed out, and HDTach results are virtually identical which says to me nothing has changed.

I really need this off at the moment as I get power drop outs often and randomly through heavy rain on a dodgy power pole box outside my place, Manweb can't find the fault as they only turn up when it's not raining..

Google has not helped at all regards this, so if anyone knows I'd appreciate it

Haven't played about with Intel Matrix RAID yet so can't really comment on that but in your situation I'd be seriously considering a UPS, especially if Manweb are struggling to find the fault. Depending on the size of your rig you can pick them up from £60 or so.

I was looking at a UPS while ordering some Headphones but they were out of stock.

I've only just set up this PC, had no problems on the old rig as the cache was off, started to get power problems with last weeks weather and was totally confused as to why I was getting data corruption, totally not realising the cache was on this new one. I'm sure it's probably something daft I've missed
