Disk management not seeing SSD

Hi there,

I have a very annoying problem that I can't seem to work out.

I currently have a Crucial 120gb M4 SSD for my main Windows 10 C drive.

I have just purchased and installed a 850 EVO SSD 250GB to eventually use as my main drive. The problem is it is recognised in the sata 3 port of the bios of my Z77 D3H though windows isn't recognising it in disk management.

So I thought as it might not be formatted and I have no way of formatting it in windows I tried to Install windows on it to get to the formatting stage. Hoping that that would then get it recognised in windows.

The problem is that when installing windows it says

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computers bios menu"

What could be missing when my other SSD works fine in this port yet this ssd won't?

Is it possible my mobo needs a missing driver?

Hope someone can help.

Cheers

Mark

Is it in the Intel sata3 port to the marvel(?) port?

If the drive is recognised in bios it should work. Disk management should pick up any unformatted disks.

Have you tried it in a sata2 port?

Sorted in the end. Updated my mobo chipset drivers and windows picked it up straight away.

Not sure why it would pick up the crucial drive and not the Samsung?

Cheers for helping anyway.
